Balcony inspections are required every 3 years by The Division of Hotels and Restaurants using form
DBPR HR-7020 – Certificate of Balcony Inspection
Florida Statute 509.2112 and Florida Administrative Code 61C-3.001(5)(a) contain the requirements of the inspection.
The term “balcony” means “a landing or porch that is accessible to or used by the public”.
The balcony inspection must include:
- platforms
- stairways
- railings and railways
- guardrails
- balustrades
- parapets
- areas enclosed by screening or other non-permanent building material.
